Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for Canon 20D, 30D, 40D & 50D Digital SLR Cameras
The battery grip should be better known as a vertical grip and that is why I ordered it. As a vertical grip, it is fabulous, allowing a natural and stable position of the hands.
What put me off (and prompted me to return it) was the size of the grip. It just adds a lot to an already large and intimidating piece of equipment in a world where digital cameras are more diminutive every few months. For extra battery life, I would rather carry a spare (warm)battery in my pocket.

While pricey, it is convenient. Risk of accidental shooting a picture with device turned on is real, but not harmful unless flash spooks subject. Convenient controls placement other than risk of accidental firing.

This is optional, if you don’t use the camera for long. Please give the second though before you buy it. otherwise, very nice!

This Grip goes well with the 40D. I have bigger hands, and this grip helps the camera be more stable. It is of course a little heavier, but, it gives me a work out, so, it’s not a big deal

I have been looking at digital SLR’s for some time now. I have always liked the feel of the Canon bodies, and the XSi feels like it was built for my hand.It is a complex beast, but fortunately the auto mode gets you started with decent shots right away. I’m a seasoned user of SLR’s, but any new model takes some practice.Although the 18-55mm lens is OK, don’t waste your time with it for professional quality photos; it will get you started but bite the bullet and get a decent long lens. (I got the EF 70-200 from Amazon — a bit steep in price but makes the XSi perform like a different camera.)The software furnished with the camera is a good start, too, until you decide what kind of “darkroom” you want to build.
The Lumix ZS3 is a GREAT camera. New and hard to find either locally or on-line. OnCall had the item and got it to me fast, just as I desired. The correct item at a competitive price. Packaged well and arrived in time. Very pleased and would order from OnCall again.
